The absence of a structured curriculum for sex education has led to the problems of adolescents and plenty of issues related to it. Though individual groups of schools, certain NGOs and a few counsellors have tried to introduce sex education, it has not been that effective as expected. Our group has felt a strong necessity for giving a structured sex education program so that the children understand the changes happening physically and mentally during the adolescent period and prevent any misconception which they will have in an unscientific manner.

A survey conducted by our research group to their surprise has realised that even many experienced teachers shy away from teaching regarding the basic physiology and anatomy of the human body scientifically. This in turn makes the students keen on the same and they get misled by unreliable sources. They become hesitant to discuss their physical and mental issues even with parents and teachers. This has led to the major issues faced by children during adolescence. The structured sex education program, sessions of good parenting for the parents, awareness sessions by psychologists and doctors and the advantages of coeducation have helped the students a lot to make themselves aware of adolescence related issues.
